Umm, hello, the band is called CREED. Hello? Creed, get it, as in the Nicene Creed, etc.? Of course they had a Christian slant to begin with.

That said, I might be the only atheist who actually likes Creed. Not enough to buy their albums, but I used to sing along with that one song that they always played on the radio when they first got big, I forget what it is now.

Oh yeah, also wanted to add Billy Joel and Paul Simon to my list, if they weren't already there.

They were a spiritual band yes but not Christian.  Do the research...I have.  You go by a name?  Do the band names Skillet, Manic Drive, 38th Parallel, Supertones, Project 86, Kutless, Dogwood, E-SO, Grammatrain, Blindside sound Christian to you?

Wow, Godsmack must be a Christian band...as well as Nine Inch Nails!   And Alterbridge..that sounds churchy.  They must be Christian too!  :D

And if Creed was the only "spiritual band" you ever liked it must have been the only band you were open minded enough to listen to because they stunk.   :x

Wow, talk about poor reading comprehension. Where did I ever say that? I said I might be the only atheist who likes Creed. I never said Creed was the only "spiritual band" I liked. In the very post I responded to I said add Paul Simon to my list. Have you listened to the lyrics of "Mrs. Robinson"? And oh, just the whole Graceland album.

I think Godsmack and NIN are spiritual bands, but you would have to have a really open mind to understand what I mean by that.

Here's some other stuff I like, most of which I already listed in my music list in this thread, that might be considered "spiritual":

Trans-Siberian Orchestra (I won tickets to their X-mas show a couple of years ago and was blown away)

Blind Willie Johnson - album Dark Was The Night, best song "Soul of a Man." You haven't heard spiritual music 'till you've heard this guy's voice. I got chills the first time I heard this song.

Bob Marley - take your pick

Santana - lots of stuff

Bob Dylan - besides his album Saved, which is crap, "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" and "Shelter from the Storm" are good picks.

Enya - obvious

Eric Clapton - "Knockin" cover, "Swing Low Sweet Chariot," "Tears in Heaven," many more.

Robert Johnson - album Complete Recordings of Robert Johnson

Son House - "John the Revelator," "Death Letter," most of his songs have a distinct spiritual feel.

Grateful Dead - again, you have to have an open mind to consider them spiritual.

George Harrison - "All Things Must Pass," "My Sweet Lord," "Hear Me Lord," etc.

Ravi Shankar - obvious

Poe - album Haunted is, well, haunting :)

Jimmy Hendrix - open mind thing again

Arrested Development - "Tennessee," "Mr. Wendel," very spiritual group overall.

Actually, my reading comprehension is quite fine.  The "if" was very intentional.  I inserted the "if" because I would have been very dissappointed if Creed was the only "spiritual" type band you would have opened yourself up to.  My wording could have been better.  I apologize if it was misleading.

Well, it seems you understand my point after all.  There are plenty of spiritual bands, which are not necessarily Christian....never said NIN and Godsmack weren't spiritual.  They just aren't Christian.

And oops, sorry for hijacking this thread.  Johnny, you may reel us back in if you'd like.

Creed one of Christianity's biggest flaws.

I'm trying hard to understand how Creed was one of Christianity's biggest flaws when it was never a Christian band to begin with.  Scott Stapp since became a Christian and a Christian artist since Creed split up but that's a different issue entirely.

My bad I was talking about its divisions.

Ah, well that makes a lot more sense!  Except maybe I'm not really comfortable with that wording because I don't really think it ever divided Christianity.  Maybe it was one of Christian entertainment's biggest misnombers.
