Sam Harris
« on: July 27, 2007, 03:11:50 PM »

I have found a copy of Sam Harris' Letter to a Christian Nation that I have read. Can anyone explain to me what he is trying to do. His attempt to show the faultiness of Christianity, that I get. Reading it though, I am mutually humored and insulted. Sam Harris claims that we need good reasons to believe what we believe. In his book, or a number of essays for that matter, he has only vindicated the thinking Christian.

I hear what you're saying, Tom.

I'm not sure where my atheists have gone.

My understanding is that Harris's point was to respond to the letters he received after publishing The End of Faith.

It appears you went fishing for some more, and hooked me.  Hello.

Yes, how very astute of you.  :)  Welcome.  Do I understand correctly then that you are an atheist?  I don't want to make assumptions.

I gotten that, and that he wanted to arm atheists. I was just astonished how much he misquoted, misread, skewed, contradicted, and misapplied reason. I find it sad. I havent had a chance to read the end of faith, but if it is anything like letter to a christian nation, the only thing that it will show is that they just have praised ignorance as stupidly as some christian leaders have.
