Two day delay???

This is a joke, right? I mean you do read your own board, no?

Deep Thought has been talking up his "investigation" of religion/supernatural/God for as long as he's been on this board.

Yeah, I have. And if you'd been listening when I first started out, my participation in this board was meant to be a part of the investigation. Just not the really meaty part.

Sheesh.

OTOH, if one believes that there is even a slight probability that God exists and if one understands the terms 'eternity,' 'torment,' 'suffering,' 'unquenchable fire," etc., then one ought to have all the motivation one needs to get on the stick now, today, this minute. I would think that the lawn could wait. If one believes that there's a reasonable probability that God exists, then even a two-day delay, not to mention an EIGHTEEN-YEAR delay, borders on idiocy.

Well, that would be true. If I was afraid of all those things. Thing is, I'm not remotely bothered by them. And if I'm even bothered by the idea of death, I don't really know it. My mind's too grounded in the now. I'm absurdly practical for such a hopeless romantic.

Now you can go ahead an insinuate whatever tickles your fancy--I don't give a rat's tail-end. I'll do things my way, in my own time. YES, God will have to wait. And so will you. Deal with it. :smt110

"Wow. Give the man a break. He just graduated from HIGH SCHOOL. Like, literally only a couple of days ago. I didn't start my own investigation until approximately the beginning of my second semester in college."

Of course you're right, sntjohnny. You're always right. What could I have been thinking? It's not as if there's any urgency to make a decision about this, is there? All eighteen-year-olds ALWAYS live until they are at least twenty-one. I guess I forgot that.

Cog, I agree with you.  A girl I graduated with died about a month after graduation.

Although, I don't think DT's investigation could be finished in just a few days.

Of course it wouldn't, so there's no point trying to rush anything. I'd probably be thirty by the time I finished, anyway.  :smt093

Traveling, that's what I was going to talk about. Sorry, got to the end of the thread meaning to post something and sat here staring at a blank screen for a minute 'cause I plum forgot what I was gonna post.

Ahem, anyway - I haven't done much traveling myself, DT, but if you visit Asia I definitely recommend studying under a Buddhist Master, if you can. I haven't done that, either, (I freely admit I'm lazy as hell) but I've read enough about Buddhism to know it is something that is probably worth investigating.

I've never been able to embrace it fully, though, 'cause there's just too much stuff I like, and Buddhism is big on getting rid of all your stuff.

My study of it has allowed me to laugh off trivial things breaking, though. Sometimes, heh.
