i'm presuming that this is the same Sam Harris who wrote "The End of Faith" which i have on my bookshelf, and is a very interesting read.  Recommended.

I think Sam Harris needs to read up on some of the popular theistic responses to the problem of pain and respond to those rather that repeate the same tired arguments we've heard from high school and college philosophy classes over and over ... and over.

Here's a good place to start.
