SntJ,
Thank you for setting up this section for Christian-Jewish dialogue.
I think you reversed the name, but that's ok. I've always put Christians first (Christian-Jewish.....) it alphabetically comes first, and besides, it's good manners to let others go first. But this is fine.
Since returning to this site a few weeks ago I've been engaged in a number of threads that discussed the differences between Christian and Jewish convictions. Sometimes the dialogues were good, other times they were more of a thrashing over who is wrong in their convictions. I wanted to change that style of dialogue, so I asked you for a Christian-Jewish forum, one that didn't encourage argument, but dialogue, and you graciously obliged. The challenge is before me and everyone who participates to keep on that course
I suggest to you you the two 'rules' that I wanted to guard this section of your Form - and you did well by mentioning them. As for the first rule, I mentioned to someone in a PM, that the statement "A fool is born every minute" is not a personal attack. If the next sentence is "and you were born when?" then it IS a personal attack. Just consider what adjective you type following the pronoun "you". If you would like the adjective applied to you, then I bet it is probably not a personal attack.
I'd also like to explain the reason for the second rule. This is a forum that discusses faith and religious conviction. I assume one is a Christian by their faith. To keep things simple, anyone who holds to Christian convictions should be considered and referred to as Christian. Who is a Jew? Well, that is a topic that requires a thread all its own. The answer goes beyond genetics and religious conviction or lack thereof. So, to keep things simple, anyone who holds to the Christian convictions regarding Jesus should be refered to as Christians. That will make it easier to maintain the distinction between Christian and Jew in the context of these discussions.
Finally, I take a break from my PC on Shabbat (Friday sundown Saturday sundown). I am in the Central Time Zone US. During the month of April, I'll be in Bangkok Thailand - so I'll be a day ahead of the US.
Thanks again SntJonny,
Natan
