Really? What are the titles of those books?

John 3:1-21

Matthew 7

22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy by thy name, and by thy name cast out demons, and by thy name do many mighty works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
24 Every one therefore that heareth these words of mine, and doeth them, shall be likened unto a wise man, who built his house upon the rock:

Matthew 22

37 And he said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the great and first commandment.
39 And a second like unto it is this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
40 On these two commandments the whole law hangeth, and the prophets.

American Standerd Version

I was referring to Matthew 28 v 1-10, Mark 16 v1-11, Luke 24 v 1-11, and John 20 v1-18.  Could it be that she had more faith than the other apostles?

Why did the church fathers suppress her role in the life of Christ?

What makes you think the church fathers suppressed MM's role?

Yeah, try to imagine it.  John the gigolo, Bartholomew the boy toy, Peter the pimp.  It would never have happened.  But poor Mary Magdalene gets branded as a whore.  A reformed whore, but still...

Yes, the pope may have connected Mary Magdelene to the prostitute, but the Bible never did.  I still am not sure what this has to do with surpressing her role....  If anything, that mistake made her role larger, (just less flattering :))

I believe I said the church fathers, not the bible, repressed her role.  As for being a prostitute, instead of a financial backer and disciple of Jesus, I can

Ok, I see what you are saying.  But I don't think that Mary Magdelene was the reason for the role of women in the church.  I believe that the church's "take" on women was derived from other passages in the Bible.  Also, the culture at the time probably had something to do with it.  But alas, I've hijacked this thread to places it was not intended to go, so I digress.  This might make an interesting thread elsewhere though.

Fair enough.   I look forward to discussing this further in another thread. :)
