"Saved!"
« on: July 21, 2004, 10:45:00 PM »

I personally I'm horrifed that this movie is being released!  It's about a teenage girl who in a wild attempt to save her male friend from homosexuality, sleeps with him.  She winds up pregnant.  Everyone shuns her, but she tries to say that it's the will of God!  I do not plan to see this!

Ooooh sounds controversial. Henceforth it will be popular.

It also sounds severely messed up, so I'll probably end up seeing it.

It sounds a little like Thirteen. I'm thinking you probably hated that movie too.

Maybe the movie with have a deeper message...okay maybe not...

When I had first heard about the movie coming out, I didn't want to have anything to do with it. I hate it when writers mock our beliefs, however, I really don't feel this movie is doing so. Check out the website for the movie. It's really interesting, and may change your mind. I originally wasn't planning on seeing the movie, but I am going to now. Despite what the movie might be about, there is truth behind it. Maybe not necessarily behind God wanting this girl to be pregnant, however, this is something that Christians do face in today's world!! We all struggle and fall and do things that we can't always be proud of, and because we have a Christian ID card Christianity has gotten a bad name from us. Debate? Throw it at me!

I haven't seen the movie, so i can't make any opinion as to whether it is blasphemous.  There is a review in our newspaper for it today.  I don't plan on seeing it simply for the fact that it looks like a pitiful movie.

The movie is only playing in certain areas. I looked it up because I know that it's out and it's only playing in Chicago and only in two theatres. Those are the closest! So, it'd be a bit more than $8 to go see it due to a train ride or paying for a parking spot downtown.

Bummer!

Here is a good article on the movie...after reading it I would suggest that Christians not use their money to support it.

I only read half of it and decided to read the rest later due to the tiredness that I've been subdued to over this weekend.

I read the article...and thank s fussy for the warning.  I still plan to see it when it becomes very cheap (at ogden for a few bucks or in rental)...Id like to form an opinion of my own on it and if anyone asks me about it ever I will be able to discuss...especially if there is confusion created about the true Christian faith versus what is portrayed in the film.  I dont see it to support it...I see it for resource.

I tried heroine just so I could tell everyone else how bad it was for them even though it felt really good.  Of course I'm kidding, but unless you had a certain discussion in mind I think I would recommend not seeing it.  Why do you need to watch a movie that mocks your faith?  If a person sees the movie and it makes them want to talk about Christianity it would be better to lead them in the right direction instead of looking at how to mock the religion...in other words I think it would be a useless resource.
