I went to one for the last book. I was working as a manager at a college library and we worked until midnight. I had three hot college women working with (for?) me that evening, and each of them suggested that we attend the release party when work was over. When three hot college women tell you to do something, you do it. I don't care who you are.

So I went. And never have I felt so lame in all my life.

Well, okay, never mind that last post Sask.

I heard on the radio program a few days ago that a certian store sold the new book before it was suppossed to. Anyway, the sold books were recalled, the buyers threatened that they could not reveal the plot, and the store was heavely fined. I didn't get all the details because I heard it in passing as I was working.

Interesting what this world is coming too, eh?

Actually, the publisher (from Canada) asked, begged, and pleaded for the buyers to return the books. They offered some fancy, expensive, gold-plated thing that was autographed by JK Rowling, and I think they were guaranteed to get the books first thing on release day. The publisher wasn't mad at the people who bought it and they couldn't legally make them return the books.

The store, however, will not receive any new HP shipments of both this book and the next one, and they will not get anything released under teh Scholastic/Bloomsbury banner either.

That is a hefty price right there!

EDIT: I am embarassed to inform you that I, Younglifer, will be attending a Harry Potter Party.

But I do have a valid excuse.

I'm leaving for a month of Work Crew at Frontier Ranch in Buena Vista, CO a mere four days after the book is released.

So, naturally I'll have to finish it before I leave. And to ensure that I finish it, I want to get the book as soon as it is avalible.

Therefore, I have to attend a Harry Potter Party.

(I'll arrive just before midnight, snatch my book and get the heck outa there!

It's official! The book is OUT!!!! :D

Now... er... the only thing left for me to do... would be to actually go out and pick up my reserve copy... ^_^'

I just read Book Six! I spent all night plowing through it--by accident, meant to go to be at two but lost track of time. ^_^' Won't spoil it for y'all, but I think it's awesome.

Prisoner of Azkaban is still my favorite, though.

I've never read any of the books so don't have a blues clue of what any of you are excited about. I couldn't even get into any of the movies. Hey, thats okay...

I do want to ask, what does excite you about this whole thing? Just interested.

Well, the books are much more entertaining than the movies (though the movies were good, too--not so much the first two as the third).

What excites me about the whole thing is that the books are awesome. I started reading when an acquaintence of mine pushed the first book on me--I hated reading then, see. But by the time I'd gotten halfway through that one, I was reading like (pardon the expression) a demon. And then I read the next... and the next... and the next (which was huge)... then when Book Five came out I read it in one day. By this time I read a LOT, and that's not just Potter books. I love to read now, and it's all thanks to Jo Rowling. (Lifts an early morning coffee cup in toast to his favorite author.)

All you Harry Potter freaks, if you haven't already done so, please read J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Ring series, Madelein Engle's(sp?) A Wrinkle in Time, Stephen King's Dark Tower series, and Ursula K. LeGuin's Earthsea books. All of these people are much better writers than Rowling, especially Tolkien. Plus Rowling stole all her best ideas from these and other writers, and not in a good way. That has made me an avid Potter-hater. Although the fact that some Christian fundys have protested the books makes me like them a little bit :)

Wanta here something hilarius. There was a church that led a protest at our local theatre when the first movie came out. By the time the third movie came out they went as a church to watch it.
