I saw 'pay it forward' not too long ago but thought the ending was completely contrived and manipulative.   That's my vote.

The Village is another bad one.

Pay it forward.  I saw that movie some time ago too.  Overall, I remember feeling positive about it.  But I think I purposely don't care to remember the endings because most endings do suck.  lol.

Sixth Sense had a great ending.  Interestingly enough, the same actor is the main character here.  He did pretty good job acting, but I have to admit the ending in "Pay it Forward" was a letdown

I liked the concept of the ending in the Village, but thought it was poorly developed.  Unlike in the 6th sense when the clues were really there the whole time, the Village hoarded them til near the end, making it far less paradigm changing than they obviously intended.

The first "Scooby-Doo" movie.
Scrappy-Doo?! Where's the fun in figuring out the case if the villian is someone who has never even been mentioned in the mystery?
I am reminded that that was one of the complaints of Lionel Twain, (the character Truman Capote played) in "Murder By Death."

"Butterfly effect" was quite strange but interesting and entertaining.  I totally didn't appreciate the ending.  I thought it was then money down the drain.  So I pretend a different ending.  The ending i thought might better fit might be where at the end...to him, the main character on the bed, he was the one dreaming of all the different ways that it could have been.....or was it exactly that???  lol.

The DVD has a "director's cut" ending that is quite different, but I didn't like it.  I prefer the theatrical ending, although I admit that was not completely satisfying.  The movie was interesting and entertaining, but could have been more cleverly done.

And then there is Lord of the Ringseries.  I thought that the ending of part three had NO ending..lol.  I remember people getting off their seats, only to find that was not the ending, and then again. lol.  But I did thouroughly enjoy Lord of the rings.  I especially loved the character of smeagle...poor fellow.  At least he died happy. :D

Though I understand why they ended LOTR the way they did, I also didn't really like it.  The books ended perfectly, and with the perfect moral.

I didn't read the books.  Actually, I prefer not to read the books.  Just makes life more interesting for me in HOW things are portryed afterwards.  In that way it becomes more interesting for me.

I prefer to see a movie before I read the book, usually. That way, the story is (hopefully) fresh, and the book shores up the story, or explains some stuff. If I read the book first, the images I "saw" in my mind are almost never equaled on the screen. For example, "The Puppet Masters" disappointed me, but it was one of my favorite Heinlein books.
However, GWTW was MUCH more interesting in film than on paper. I've never finished the book. I didn't even know what "CSA" stood for. I thought it stood for "Cub Scouts of America." Maybe my age kept me from understanding the book, but I've never tried the book since.

I loved the books and thought the movie also ended perfectly. How exactly did the movie ending differ significantly from the books? Both have Bilbo and Frodo sail to the West with the Elves, and I thought the goodbye scene in the movie was done very well. Am I missing something?

The movie largely omits the coming home of the Hobbits to re-take the shire.  They come home, yes, but *snip* on the Hobbits embracing their own nobility.

Ah. Right, that is true. Actually, I think in the DVD they have deleted scenes with Saruman descending into shame and becoming ragged, and so forth. I haven't watched it yet so I don't know how in depth it goes. To portray that whole battle for the shire well would have required another whole movie, though, so I could see why they cut it.

***Warning spoiler alert regarding the fate of Saruman***

Saruman is killed off in the extended edition of the DVD.  But the retaking the shire is nowhere in the DVD either.  I understand why it was not in the movie -- it draws away from the climax of the destruction of the ring.  It would have been nice to have it in the DVD but it would have been a fair amount of extra work.

Agreed on all points.  But I really wanted to see the Shire re-taken, even if it meant Movie #4.  :(

I think it would have been an excellent DVD extra for Return of the King.  Talk about a selling point.
