Spammers

We've noticed a marked increase in the number of spammers setting up accounts here in the past month or so.  We're experimenting with some methods of preventing them from ever registering, but for the moment we are doing some serious manual bans and deletions.  It appears that the spammers have started using humans instead of bots, so you may see some posts and/or users disappear.

Spammers...eliminated.   [gotcha

Thanks to some of the new security measures, we've been able to essentially automatically block known spammers from registering here.  I've also gone through the entire member list and removed any existing spammers.

Ah, the peaceful silence.  Wait - is that a bad thing on a discussion forum?  Now i'm confused.

It has been sort of nice, not needing to delete 10s of spammer accounts everyday.  So far, we've only had one spammer make it into the registration queue, and they were immediately flagged by the software as a spammer.  Really nice improvement.
