I see what I said was unclear.  By 'opposite view' I meant in contrast to catastrophism.  Thus, we are in agreement on our assessment (more or less) about Lyell and Hutton.  Its been too long since I've studied that to push it further.

During this phase is the time thought, our solar system began forming.

But as this is a mute point, because. If we were to go this far why not go back further to a point when some other type of planetary nebula or super nova may have expelled the elements known to have been used to form our type star. So then how far back would we go? The begining of our galaxy? Why not further back? After all, it's not called our universe for nothing.
