Doesn't this get classified as testing the Lord your God?  If I drink poison without knowing it (Mark 16:17,18)or be bit by a poisonous snake (like Paul) while going about my business I believe, based on scripture that the Lord will protect me (miraculously or otherwise).  If I purposely throw myself off a cliff (or as Satan suggested to Jesus, throw yourself off the temple) or any other fatal behavior then I am trying to manipulate God - He doesn't appreciate that and lets you pay the consequences.
