Well, maybe I was wrong??  And I was too hasty?  Perhaps I am a student who needs a spanky?

I don't know.. I must admit I misread things all the time.. and I must double... may triple check at times... I did not do it this time (although I thought I did) and I am allowing it to be this way without excuse for myself.

What I mean is no.. I really did not fully react on a third reading to make sure.  I responded on a quick first read.  So... correct me now.

Well, Zag, we can start by discussing my opening post/  Do you have anything to say about it besides, "You are a bad student"?

Well, I just read it for the first time.  Speaking just as a linguist, I thought it was a pretty good argument.   And looking at Tony's replies, I felt that he simply proved hearsay's case--that Tony succumbs to an etymological fallacy.   It is difficult enough to sustain such an argument in one's own language, but it is pretty outrageous to argue the fine points of semantic interpretation over usage in a language that one does not speak.  Hearsay gave some arguments from English to back up his point about how one cannot sustain an argument based on root meanings, and Tony simply ignored him.

An apt summary, Copernicus.

Where is Tony N.?  Did he finally see his folly?

I'm gonna have to get back to this thread but the latest post suggests to me that this is basically a thread to Tony.. no?

At any rate, I will have to find time to get involved specifically here.

Later (or sooner) then.

Merry Christmas by the way.

Christ is the reason for the season.  :)
